Pen Y Porth, situated in the beautiful coastline town of Burry Port in Carmarthenshire, West Wales, is an affordable housing scheme by Pobl Group.
The £15m project, partly funded by Welsh Government grants, will provide 105 high quality two, three and four bedroom homes across a range of tenures including social rented, shared ownership and open market sales.
Pobl Group’s aim is to capture the character and spirit of Burry Port by taking inspiration from the expansive coastal views from the site. The design reflects their vision of ‘New England with a Welsh twist’ and the properties feature timber boarding and render in a mixture of pastel colours which combines perfectly with stone cladding to create distinctive new homes that complement the surrounding area.
Faithful+Gould provided project management and cost management services during the pre-contract stage of the project and will provide employer’s agent services through to completion for Pobl Groups’ flagship West Wales project.
The service provided embraced a ‘employer’s agent plus’ approach that Faithful+Gould is providing on complex residential developments for registered social landlord clients. This includes stakeholder management, programming and phasing advice and risk management which is over and above the traditional employer’s agent role, providing added value to the client.
The challenging topography and earthworks requirements of the site has dictated a phased approach to development with the construction contract being phased into an initial enabling works phase, followed by three distinct phases of development to support sales and marketing requirements.
