The education sector has been a cornerstone of Faithful+Gould’s business for the past 20+ years and our recent provision of Project Management services for the Riverside School has further demonstrated our dedication to creating opportunities within the sector. This £3.5m YORhub-procured new build, designed by East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Building Design Group, provides opportunity for the children with special needs to develop their physical well-being, life-skills and long-term independence and is part of East Riding’s accessibility strategy to address the growing requirement for SEN provision in the region.
The Phase 1 programme has delivered 1600m2 two storey extension providing seven additional classrooms along with a specialist hydrotherapy pool, a new hall, gym, sensory room, small group rooms and office space. A lot of attention has been given to the design in creating therapeutic, safe and calm environment to the children and it goes beyond a one-size-fits-all model.
F+G, working with ERI&F and Geo Houlton & Sons Ltd, is very proud to be a part of this milestone which has already contributed to the local community by ensuring a common special needs educational offering is available allowing more parents to choose the school nearest to their home. This scheme was also recognised at the Constructing Excellence Yorkshire & Humber Awards 2019 winning the Highly Commended award in the Value category.
