Faithful+Gould underlined their excellent reputation of delivering large scale infrastructure projects by undertaking the project management and quantity surveying roles on the South Bristol Link project. The project was a large multi-use highway scheme and was delivered under a design and build contract.
The South Bristol Link (SBL) forms part of the larger MetroBus network which provides direct routes to key destinations around the South Bristol area, enabling thousands of people to access employment, education and leisure. The MetroBus network will also help to alleviate traffic congestion in one of the most densely populated areas in the country.
Faithful+Gould led the construction phase of the project providing the project management, risk management and cost management for the project. The SBL is a significant addition to the local transport network, which provides improved links to the M5 and other principal roads. It included: 4.5 km of new road, bus lanes, walking and cycling paths; two road bridges; two signalised roundabouts; three signalled junctions; major landscaping; and the restoration and preservation of three historic lime kilns on the A38 roundabout.
