IMG Media appointed Faithful+Gould as project managers to provide their new television broadcasting studios and office accommodation, as part of their business relocation strategy.
IMG Media is a division of IMG, the global sports, fashion and media company. It is the world's largest independent producer and distributor of sports programmes. It has major relationships with broadcasters including the BBC, for the Football League show, snooker and darts; Channel Four for its exclusive horse racing coverage; and ESPN in the US for the Open Championship; also enjoying a string of other important client relationships, most notably with the Premier League, Wimbledon, the R&A for the Open Golf Championship, the BCCI for IPL Cricket, FIFA and UEFA.
The new facility needed to accommodate four high specification television studios, with their associated production and sound galleries. In addition to the technical suite, the facility needed office space which enabled IMG to embrace a new agile working culture, for circa 500 employees. The brief was to provide an innovative media focused design, which achieved these requirements and highlighted the IMG sports ethos.
Faithful+Gould engaged closely with the design team and various stakeholders to deliver the new 100,000 sq ft facility. As well as a data centre and satellite farm, this incorporated a fully catered staff restaurant, gym, formal and informal meeting spaces, boardroom, video conference facilities and an open plan working environment.
