Thames Water appointed Faithful+Gould onto their 10-year Quantity Surveying Consultancy Framework in December 2004 to provide services as part of the AMP4 and AMP5 Capital Investment Programmes.
Faithful+Gould’s role involved introducing rigorous challenges to the contractor's proposed target costs, construction methods and temporary works to guarantee the most cost-effective solution. A risk management plan was also developed, resulting in agreed reductions for a range of wastewater network improvement projects, delivering significant cost savings across the programmes.
"This performance measurement regime was key to driving continuous improvement and development of best practice, delivering the necessary cost savings."
John Wood, Faithful+Gould's Framework Director
To ensure continuous efficiencies, the project team, including the client, consultants and the contractor, were co-located in Thames Water's offices and for major projects the team then relocated to site. John Wood, Framework Director, commented, "This approach ensured that all involved performed in a collaborative and integrated environment with common objectives, helping to hit the client’s Framework KPIs. This performance measurement regime was key to driving continuous improvement and development of best practice, delivering the necessary cost savings. We were delighted to be able to contribute to the successful delivery of the Capital Investment Programmes."
