United Airlines' new international departures lounge is the first to open at London Heathrow’s new £2.5bn Terminal 2, (known as the Queen’s Terminal). In conjunction with this, United Airlines was the first airline to operate from this terminal, a monumental occasion for the American Airline.
Appointed by United Airlines as Employer’s Agent and Cost Manager we played an instrumental role in the realisation of United Airlines’ flagship departure lounge suite - ‘United Club’ and ‘Global First’ in what is their busiest transatlantic hub.
Together the lounges occupy 22,000 square feet of space with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the runways. Inside the Global First lounge there is a replica of the Big Ben clock face appropriately presiding over a tea room area and an a-la-carte menu option. In the United Club lounge there is a 50 ft long bar, two buffet areas, living room space and seats for over 280 guests. Both lounges give access to the luxurious shower facilities, valet service and business rooms including privacy areas to hold private phone calls and meetings.

We collaborated closely with the project team, quickly developing a strong relationship resulting in a shared sense of purpose and team spirit, which was of great benefit to completing this fast track programme to the completion date set by United Airlines to ensure that they were the first operational airline in the new Terminal 2.
Mike Landers, Director, Design & Construction, Corporate Real Estate, United Airlines, said "the Faithful+Gould team brought the very best in resources, engagement, skill and client commitment to the table throughout our projects. Their culture and approach is a game changer, they see the bigger picture, use the latest in technology and become one with the client’s vision from the very start. My thanks to this outstanding project team for their sincere effort and skillful execution on our projects.”
