Faithful+Gould is one of the first consultancies in the UK to offer BREEAM services. Our consultants have delivered over 100 BREEAM assessments since 1998.
This wide-ranging experience was recognised by the University of the West of Scotland who commissioned Faithful+Gould to develop the sustainability strategy for their new student halls of residence at the UWS Ayr Campus. This was largely informed by the BREEAM process which resulted in a score of 'Very Good' based on the implementation of a variety of measures to reduce the environmental impact of the buildings and wider site.
The design of the building focusses on the health and wellbeing of students by providing excellent levels of natural daylight, thermal comfort and air quality, as well as providing extensive external amenity space. Construction materials were selected to minimise environmental impact and pollution. Energy use is minimised through the design of the building form and fabric, efficient services, and provision of air source heat pumps which reduce operational CO2 emissions by 25%.
