Value: £24m, client: Shropshire Council. This project comprises the replacement of the existing disparate collection of buildings of varying age and condition with a new school building. The campus will incorporate: An all-new 25m, 6 lane swimming pool, a sports hall, a fitness suite and gymnasium, and grass and all-weather sports and athletic facilities. Cultural facilities include replacement of the school's current Edge Arts Centre, dance and drama studios, and a new lecture theatre that will double as a small cinema. Faithful+Gould helped the school and local authority to develop and translate their education and ICT visions into detailed briefs and specifications including the organisation of the school into four learning zones and a school ‘heart'. The William Brookes School site hosts the annual Wenlock Olympian Games, the forerunner of the modern Olympic Games. We provided the following services: Project visioning services, technical advisory services, ICT advisory services, project management support. Completion is due in autumn 2010.
"Despite the complexities of the project, every date within the target pre-construction programme has been met and the main construction work started on schedule on 12th January 2009.
The senior members of the SC Project Team consider that the Faithful+Gould contribution to this success has been invaluable and that the professional services provided and level of commitment to the project have been exemplary."
