One of the nation's finest universities has come to Washington, D.C. New York University (NYU) broke ground on the Constance Milstein and Family Academic Center, in northwest Washington in December 2010. The Center is the newest of NYU's Global Network University sites located in more than ten countries worldwide.
We were awarded the project in January 2011. On behalf of the NYU Office of Construction Management, Faithful+Gould will provide owner's representation, project management, construction management and change order review services for this project. The A/E for the building is Hickok Cole Architects and the General Contractor is Sigal Construction.
The 75,000-square-foot, 12-story building will house students wishing to spend a semester or more in the nation's capital. Although some business and law graduate students may study at the Center, the program is primarily designed for undergraduate students in fields such as politics, journalism, art history, economics and history. The building construction will include three levels below-grade containing academic and support spaces, as well as nine levels above-grade housing a lobby, various offices and dormitory spaces, including 123 student beds and three faculty apartments.
The Center will contain offices where faculty members can conduct research and students can obtain internships. NYU's goal for this project is LEEDTM Gold certification.
