Caterpillar has appointed Faithful+Gould to provide project and construction management for the delivery of its multi-year investment to develop and manufacture Perkins and Caterpillar branded engines in Wuxi. The medium size engines under consideration for production in Wuxi would be used in Caterpillar core construction equipment, for power generation, in commercial marine applications, and would be sold to OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) for agriculture and industrial uses. Once the engine facilities in Wuxi are fully operational they will have the combined capacity to produce in excess of 100,000 diesel engines per year.
Barry Piper, Director at Faithful+Gould, comments, "Our appointment in delivering this campus engine facility in China adds leverage to our long track record in successfully delivering major world class investments in this critically important market. There is a ‘spark’ between both Caterpillar and ourselves… two companies that have reputation for great thinking and originality. Working together on this campus facility has, with our intimate knowledge of the local market, created some innovative procurement solutions specific for this campus facility.”
Faithful+Gould has also recently been appointed as project and construction manager for Caterpillar’s new Asia Power Systems facility in Tianjin, China.
