The £25m project will see Faithful+Gould acting as employer’s agent, cost manager and CDM co-ordinator for Shaw healthcare, a leading provider within the field, based at St Mellons in Cardiff, which is building the new homes in Bromley, Kent.
The company is already in negotiations with the contractor to finalise costs and work is due to start on the site in the spring of 2008, with a three year programme seeing the new premises gradually replacing existing units.
The homes, being built to cater for the needs of the local authority, will provide extra care for residents.
Mark Bugler of Faithful+Gould in Cardiff said: “Extra care is a market that we are keen to further establish ourselves within, so we are very pleased to now be working with Shaw healthcare on this exciting development.”
Faithful+Gould is a leading player in the UK health market, a position which was boosted at the end of last year when it was appointed as national cost advisor to the Welsh Health Estates and the National Assembly.
As part of this role the company is involved in ensuring continuous improvement throughout the construction and procurement processes on all major health projects in Wales, maximising the largest ever capital investment programme in the NHS in Wales, which aims to improve the way hospitals and other healthcare buildings are designed and constructed.”
Niall Sloan, Faithful+Gould director, said: “This latest development is a testament to the work already being done by the company in the health sector, and gives us the opportunity to expand our excellent track record yet further.”
