Faithful+Gould contributed to several aspects of the Doha Festival City development; not limited to the commercial management aspect of the project’s construction phase. They provided investment managers, finance managers, tenancy managers and other consultants the necessary advice to make critical financial decisions in regards to cost matters and contract solutions.
A proactive approach to risk and change management was encouraged throughout the project. The scale of Doha Festival City encompasses over 240,000 square metres (sq. m) with 550 outlets, 100 restaurants and cafes, the first of its kind entertainment zone (VOX Cinemas and a snow park) and approximately 8,000 parking spaces. Phase One of the development was completed in March 2013, along with the official opening of Qatar's first IKEA. Phase Two, stage one, opened April 2017.
As project and commercial managers on Shaza Doha, Faithful+Gould’s proven ability to plan, organise & communicate was vital in working with partners and stakeholders.
Their expertise assisted in accelerating the construction programme and navigating approvals’ requirements and governmental processes.
Mark Ainger, Qatar Country Director, said "Winning these awards is a reflection on the positive attitude and commitment we have cultivated internally and externally. As a team, we are extremely proud of the work we have done on both of these projects and both are set to positively impact the retail, leisure and tourism offering of Qatar. While the 2016/2017 Qatar construction market has been undoubtedly challenging, we have given considerable attention to ensuring all elements are in place for delivering on our projects in the lead-up to 2022.
These awards confirm Faithful+Gould’s position as one of the top consultants in the region. The Construction Innovation Awards are now in their second year and aim to celebrate the individuals and companies propelling the country forward towards its aspiration to the National Vision of 2030 and therefore keeping it on track towards its goals.
