Faithful+Gould is among the first in the country to undertake work under the new 10 year partnering framework agreement issued by HM Prison Service.

Project and cost management consultant Faithful+Gould is among the first in the country to undertake work under the new 10 year partnering framework agreement issued by HM Prison Service.

The company is project managing more than £6m worth of work on four projects at HM Prison Dartmoor in Devon. Some of the works are taking place under the PPC2000 single-contract partnering arrangements which came into force towards the end of last year.

PPC2000 marks a major breakthrough in the development of a new construction culture as envisaged by Sir John Egan and his Construction Task Force and is one of the first multi-party partnering contracts to be produced following the Government’s ‘Rethinking Construction’ report and initiative. PPC 2000 embraces a number of radical ideas formulated by the Construction Industry Council Partnering Task Force and set out in their Guide to Project Team Partnering.

HM Prison Dartmoor was built in 1809 as a Napoleonic prisoner of war camp. It is currently a Category C prison and houses approximately 700 adult male prisoners. The current works include a new health care centre, the refurbishment of the gymnasium, workshop roofing replacement and access modifications to a wing of the prison. Faithful+Gould is currently managing the design process and devising new methods and systems that will be adopted by all partners involved on the projects.

"These new works will help improve the prison and create a better living environment for all."
Paul Davies, Faithful+Gould Regional Director and Head of Project Management - South West and Wales

Paul Davies, regional director and head of project management for the South West and Wales, commented, "The HM Prison Dartmoor work is the first to be set up under the new framework with Faithful+Gould and as such provides us with a pioneering role in establishing exactly how the framework will operate. These new works will help improve the prison and create a better living environment for all."

Faithful+Gould is fulfilling 14 different roles for HM Prison Service projects across the country, including Project Management, Cost Consultancy and Planning Supervisor services.

Faithful+Gould is a member of the Atkins Group of companies. It is one of the world’s largest project and cost management consultancies. Faithful+Gould employs over 2,000 staff with a turnover in excess of £100 million and has an expanding office base worldwide.
