Steven will be joined in this webinar by John Campbell, AIA, principal at design firm Francis Cauffman; and Ray Milora, head of design and change management and worldwide real estate & facilities at pharmaceutical firm GSK.
These panelists worked together on the planning, design and execution of the GSK Navy Yard project, which relocated 1,300 GSK employees from downtown Philadelphia to a new headquarters while reducing office space by circa 600,000 square feet. The new building is the latest iteration of GSK’s SMART Working program, which utilizes open floor plates with shared work stations for all team members and a range of meeting and social areas.
During this AIA/CES certified webinar, the panelists will discuss their work on the Navy Yard office and share lessons learned one year since moving in. Attendees will learn about:
- How GSK successfully engaged their employees in a change management program that helped make the transition to a new collaborative work environment by implementing prototypes and pilot studies.
- What GSK has measured in post-occupancy surveys, the results of those surveys and how they are acting on those results.
- Anecdotes and "soft metrics" that emerged over the first year in the new space.
- What GSK would do the same and what they would do differently now that they’ve been in the space for one year.
Last year, WorkDesignNow selected the Navy Yard project as a case study in innovative workplace planning. As a part of this honor, the project was featured in an issue of Workspace Design magazine and highlighted in a video. Steven also took part in a roundtable discussion on innovative workplace design.
"Faithful+Gould has helped GSK implement SMART Working for years, so we are aware of the hard and soft benefits that come from adopting this type of office environment..."
Steven Bernstein, Faithful+Gould's Program Director - Strategic Portfolio Planning & Workplace
"Faithful+Gould has helped GSK implement SMART Working for years, so we are aware of the hard and soft benefits that come from adopting this type of office environment," said Steven. "Now one year after move in, we are able to quantify these benefits and discuss what worked versus the things we would have done differently. We are looking forward to the event and the opportunity to share our knowledge with the attendees."
