Project and cost consultant Faithful+Gould is one of three consultancies to have won a five-year cost consultancy framework contract with United Utilities in support of its £3.5 billion capital investment programme.

United Utilities, the FTSE 100 company that manages and operates the regulated electricity distribution, water and wastewater networks in north west England, announced its AX4 five year capital programme for water and electricity at the end of last year.

It has chosen Faithful+Gould, one of the world's leading project and cost consultancies, to provide cost consultancy services for the programme, and also for the provision of professional services to the company’s Procurement Department.

Faithful+Gould has a regional office at Altrincham with offices at Liverpool and – since last month – central Manchester. Cluster director Simon Birchall said: "This is a significant achievement and reinforces our position as a principal project management and cost consultant in the region. We are extremely excited about the prospect of working with UU to optimise the value of their capital investment over the next 5 years. Our cost consultancy experts assist throughout the project cycle, from inception to project completion and operation."

At the end of December last year, United Utilities chief executive John Roberts announced a £2.9 billion programme to improve water quality and sewage treatment in the region between 2005 and 2010, and a £640 million package to upgrade and strengthen the region’s electricity network.
