Faithful+Gould to Deliver New College Building for Barnfield College in Luton

Danielle Wynn
Faithful+Gould has been appointed to provide cost management services for the delivery of a new £48m Further Education College in Luton which is programmed to be operational by September 2020.

Barnfield College, is a vocational college offering a diverse range of full-time, part-time and degree-level courses as well as apprenticeships. It has students currently studying on its current split locations. The increasing demand on new facilities which complement the courses Barnfield offer has predominantly determined the need for a new, more flexible, efficient facility.

“It has and continues to be a real team effort...”

Julie Mathur, Associate Director

The new college building is being developed on different site, adjacent to Luton’s Guided Busway. The current sites at Enterprise Way and Bedford Road are in the process of being sold and likely subsequently disposed of as part of the funding strategy for the new facility.

Julie Mathur, associate director, who has worked closely with the college to date comments: “I was delighted to be awarded this contract with Barnfield. It has and continues to be a real team effort, bringing together our local team of HE and Further education specialists to Barnfield’s project delivery team.

This project builds on our expertise in the Further Education sector following our recent successful completion of Lambeth College (completed 2016) and ongoing delivery with Richmond College Phase 1 and Richmond College Phase 2.”

Faithful+Gould’s activity to date has focussed on providing initial high level inception stage cost input with detailed cost planning expected to be undertaken during July and August 2017.
