We have recently delivered our first IOSH accredited principal designer and risk management course to clients based in the North East, for which uptake was exceptional. So much so that the course was full within a month of the dates being released, demonstrating that health and safety is of paramount importance across the region.
The role of a principal designer has a significant effect on whether a project is delivered in a way that secures health and safety. It takes specific skills, knowledge and experience to ensure that major and foreseeable risks are managed throughout the design process. And, it touches every environment and every sector, which was shown in the variety of business sectors represented at the course itself, from local authorities right through to major utilities and renewable energy companies.
What did the course offer?
The course provided delegates with an awareness and understanding of the roles of a designer and principal designer under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and how to undertake successful design risk management during a project. It established that, as a key project advisor, you are expected to provide a pivotal role, guiding, advising and influencing others in making good, sound decisions about health and safety on projects.
What were the learning outcomes?
Every delegate who sat the IOSH approved course was tested through an end-of-course assessment leading to an IOSH approved qualification. The assessment was in the style of an open book written examination consisting of ten questions.
Delegates attending included, designers, clients and health and safety professionals and those looking to become or undertake the role of a principal designer, or to further enhance their skills knowledge and experience.
Excellent feedback was received from those who attended the course, with recommendations for their colleagues to attend future courses.
The success story continues
Expanding on our highly successful IOSH accredited principal designer and risk management course, Faithful+Gould has now also obtained Association of Project Safety accreditation.
This is the first course of its nature across the UK to achieve both governing bodies approval, and the only bespoke principal designer and risk management course available; all those who attend receive the very best training and knowledge on CDM 2015.
