Faithful+Gould is again helping Motorola to project manage the delivery of its rapid expansion of research and development (R&D) centres in China.

We have full responsibility for project managing the 18th R&D centre which will be located in the Jinqiao Export Processing Zone, close to Shanghai. Jinqiao Export Processing Zone is the largest comprehensive industrial park area in Shanghai, combining export processing, trade, commercial service and residence into one. The building is a 5-storey facility with basement car park and will encompass a total area of about 75,000sq ft. Around 350 Engineers are expected to work in the facility which is due to be finished by the end of July 2007.

Motorola always set very aggressive schedules. We have to work very hard with and through the contractors, designers and Motorola themselves to give the project the best chance of successfully achieving these deadlines. One of the biggest challenges on this project is the curtain wall installation which is new to China and requires to be imported from Holland.

"This recent project win is the result of a long and successful client relationship with Motorola." Says Barry Piper, Regional Director Asia Pacific. "Faithful+Gould has delivered similar projects with equally similar aggressive time lines for Motorola including the 20,000m2 Hanzhou R&D facility at Bin Jian High Tech Park with its high quality and highly individualistic interior design."
