Andy brings to this appointment extensive experience of industry standards-setting through his involvement with, among other bodies, the BSI, ISO, RICS and CIBSE.

He will also play an ambassadorial role in promoting SFG20 as the default industry standard through his existing industry contacts, and in advising on further developments that will enable SFG20 standards to be used to deliver optimum maintenance solutions for both contractors and clients.

"Andy's considerable expertise will be of enormous benefit in the alignment of the SFG20 standard with CIBSE's Guide M to Maintenance Engineering and Management, and with the new Rules of Measurement for Maintenance (NRM part 3) which are about to be published by the RICS, and for which he is lead author and chairman of the technical drafting working group," said Peter Excell, HVCA Council member and immediate past chairman of the Association's Service and Facilities Group.

"Of particular value is his experience in developing standards for the maintenance and life-cycle costing of building services projects, which has specific relevance to building services engineering companies involved in large portfolio asset management and major PFI projects."
