Arabian Canal Infrastructure Works – Phase 1 Area 1, Dubai

The Arabian Canal is a project of epic proportions and is set to shape the new Dubai. This 75km man-made waterway will flow inland from Dubai Waterfront, passing to the east to the new Dubai World Central International Airport before turning back towards Palm Jumeirah. Phase 1 Area 1 is a 9km long man-made canal covering over 2,400 hectares. Faithful+Gould was appointed by Limitless to act as cost and quantity surveying consultant for the Arabian Canal infrastructure works. As the principal cost and quantity surveying consultant for this spectacular project, the services we provided included reporting, managing, monitoring and controlling all cost and contractual matters related to the project.

During the design stage we assisted with project budgeting, cost planningand tender documentation, and are assisting the project team on an ongoing basis.

The construction stage activities included:

  • updating the revised budgets
  • monitoring cost against the budget
  • change management
  • interim valuations

The approach:

  • The client required that contractors executing the infrastructure works be put into place phase by phase to enable third party developers to start the main development work of the Arabian Canal community development.
  • A process of phase vice development was introduced in order to complete the infrastructure and canal development part by part.
