Faithful+Gould was commissioned to cost manage the replacement of the "Bridlington Leisure World" facility situated facing the seafront just north of Bridlington harbour.
The project included the demolition of the existing facility, the creation of a new-build competition standard pool, learner pool, leisure pool, climbing wall, six-court sports hall and gymnasium facilities. The project was procured through the YORbuild contractor framework utilising a two-stage procurement route and the NEC3 Main Option A contract. As part of our remit we were also tasked with cost managing and providing the NEC3 Project Manager role for the provision of a new temporary pool facility which made use of legacy training pools from the London 2012 Olympics.
A key element of the brief for this project is the incorporation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to support East Riding of Yorkshire Council in their target to achieve BIM Level 2 by 2016.
Our team provided life cycle costing exercises working closely with the design team to develop an energy efficient building which is complemented by energy efficient building services and renewable technologies such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and photovoltaics. This exercise has enabled the energy bill to be reduced by 50% compared to the existing facility which was key objective for the new facility.
