Lending a Helping Hand to CereCare Wellness Centre in China

CereCare Wellness Center is the brainchild of two sisters, Lu Shun Ling and Iris Lieu, aimed at providing children with cerebral palsy a normal life through education and rehabilitation. Cerebral palsy is a congenital condition caused by brain damage that affects the coordination of muscles, speech and sometimes learning ability.

The center offers innovative therapies in a warm and loving environment to help the children achieve their fullest potential physically, intellectually and emotionally in order to lead an independent life. The building is spread over two floors with majority of the classrooms, treatment and rehabilitation rooms, and canteen on the ground level while the children’s bedrooms are located on the first floor. As caregivers need to carry the children up and down the stairs on a daily basis, our team, in collaboration with British Chamber stepped in to help.

Through co-sponsorship from a UK company and donations collected at the recent British Chamber Charity Ball, a stair lift was purchased and installed at CereCare Center on 21 June 2014.

Barry Piper, COO Asia comments, "Faithful+Gould and British Chamber have been strong supporters of CereCare. The stair lift will be an invaluable aid not only to the caregivers but to the children as well. To see the joy on their faces says it all. Their positive attitude is very infectious—you can't help but smile and be inspired”.

CereCare welcomes all forms of contribution including donations in kind or monetary by sponsoring a child and volunteers to care for the children. If you are keen to lend a helping hand, please contact Barry Piper.
