Faithful+Gould, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, is currently providing cost consultancy services on the 400,000 sq ft redevelopment of the iconic, Grade II listed Lewis’s Building in Liverpool City Centre, owned by Augur Group.
The mixed-use development borders two core growth and regeneration areas within Liverpool; the Knowledge Quarter and Liverpool Central. It includes the refurbishment of the 400,000 sqft Lewis’s building, bringing it back to life as a 126 key apart-hotel, 70,000 sqft of Grade A office space and 275,000 sqft of retail and leisure space. Additionally, the project comprises the creation of the Circus, a new high-quality public plaza on land to the rear of the building. This will include new connections into Liverpool Central station, which with 16 million passengers in 2015-16 is already one of the UK’s busiest stations.
The project demonstrates a highly respectful and sympathetic approach by Augur towards regenerating a landmark building and creating a new city focal point, giving life and purpose to an under-used but prime location in the city centre.
The project is currently in pre-planning stage, with extensive consultations occurring between multiple stakeholders, Augur and its design team, and has already undergone heritage works to enhance the Lewis’s building façade and restore features including; ornate stair cases, balconies and fluted columns.
Faithful+Gould, is providing Cost Consultancy services for the entire scheme, drawing on our extensive experience in the challenges and complexities brought by projects of similar scale in the North-West and beyond to add genuine value and commercial insight to the masterplanning process.
“The Lewis’s Building forms a vital strategic piece within the heart of Liverpool City Centre. The building holds historic significance and is a key landmark to all Liverpudlians. Since taking ownership we have sought to build strong stakeholder relations with Liverpool City Council, Network Rail, MerseyTravel and MerseyRail in order to deliver an extension to the Lewis’s Building and regenerate what are currently uninhabitable industrial lands”
“Faithful+Gould have been a key appointment within our team, offering cost advice on arguably niche areas and on a highly complex scheme. We have found them to be dependable, responsive and a good all round team player.”
