Faithful+Gould was appointed as a subject matter expert to draft the mechanical and electrical asset policy for Network Rail for their operational buildings and line side assets; comprising of stations, maintenance depots and line-side assets (signal boxes).
The Network Rail asset policy and strategy established:

Asset criticality rating method – prioritisation
Asset maintenance strategies – to set base compliance and fit for function standards
Asset life data and degradation profiles
Intervention options and triggers and rules
Policy selection – enablers and reviewing mechanisms and continual improvements

Virtual station - business focus model
The virtual station model includes every type of asset that exists across the 2700 stations and platforms, footbridges, car parks and canopies, which standardised 206 maintainable asset types.
