Faithful+Gould was selected to provide program management, cost estimating and pre-construction services for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) and subsequently the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) for the Performing Arts Center at the World Trade Center site.
After the events of September 11, 2001, we prepared detailed cost estimates for the entire World Trade Center (WTC) redevelopment as part of the master plan for the whole site, reconciled these estimates with other stakeholders, and provided value engineering services to the owner. Faithful+Gould continues to provide program management services focused on the planning of the Frank Gehry designed Performing Arts Center, both the above and below grade elements of the project.
The Performing Arts Center will house the Joyce International Dance Center. This project will include a 1,000-seat theater where one or two-week engagements will be presented by approximately 30 different dance companies from around the world each year. In addition to performances, The Joyce Center will provide education programs for school groups, community workshops, open rehearsals, lectures and demonstrations, among other public programs. The facility's public space will also offer a forum for lunchtime and evening activities such as staged readings, lectures and other activities that provide an insight into the theatre's work and which incorporate the Lower Manhattan community into the daily life of the Performing Arts Center.
